Cyclists have a responsibility to reduce the risk of an accident for pedestrians due to the new hierarchy of road users. 2022 Highway Code changes mean pedestrians now have an enhanced right of way in comparison with the previous Code, although it has always been a motorist’s duty to give way to pedestrians crossing a road into which they are turning.
